MEETINGS & PROGRAMS
ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Each spring the Society holds its annual meeting/conference which includes panels, discussions, lectures and slide talks, video screenings, traditional music performances, and the presentation of Society awards. These gatherings also give folklore enthusiasts, professional and amateur folklorists, and community researchers a chance to get together and talk. Each year the Society moves the meeting to different parts of the state.

6-9 p.m. Grill-Out. Bring your foods to grill. Charcoal grill, cold non-alcoholic drinks, paper goods provided.
9 p.m. on First Annual Folklore Slumber Party. Top floor of Historic R.A. Fountain Building, circa 1916.
We have special permission to stay overnight, under the twinkling glow of the collection of famous Lester Gay Whirly-Gigs, which hang from the rafters and reflect the soft street light from windows overlooking the historic downtown. Fountain is 10 years older than NCFS!
Who gets to have adventures like this?! Folklorists and their guests! Good clean fun with a folklore twist.
Family-style slumber party. Bring your sleeping bag, a piece of plastic for the floor, overnight necessities, and stories. Bathrooms available.
Outdoor Tent Camping Sites also available with primitive bathroom.
